Mr Obama is an Horatio Alger story of success through Hard Work and Honesty - Who was Horatio Alger and how Obama fits ??

I never believed in the years before 2008 that I would ever see a "Black" president for the USA.

( Obama is not "Black" or "White", that is foolishness )

The story of Mr Obama is incredible and hard to believe, it is a wonder, "Only in America" ....

I have always been told that Horatio Alger wrote "Rags to Riches" stories, but I never did any research on this, until now. I didn't know that this author was a Minister of Religion and that his stories are fictional and not real.

But after reading his biography in Wikipedia, I see that Obama fits the "Horatio Alger" mold, his blueprint for success, through hard work and a honest life.

Mr Obama was a rich man, even before being a presidential candidate. His books made him rich.

Who was Horatio Alger ??

Horatio Alger in Wikipedia.

Some excerpts :

Horatio Alger, Jr. (January 13, 1832 – July 18, 1899) was a prolific 19th-century American author whose principal output was formulaic juvenile novels that followed the adventures of bootblacks, newsboys, peddlers, buskers, and other impoverished children in their rise from humble backgrounds to lives of respectable middle-class security and comfort. His novels were hugely popular in their day.

Many of Alger's works have been described as rags to riches stories, illustrating how down-and-out boys might be able to achieve the American Dream of wealth and success through hard work, courage, determination, and concern for others. This widely held view involves Alger's characters achieving extreme wealth and the subsequent remediation of their "old ghosts." Alger is noted as a significant figure in the history of American cultural and social ideals
