Modern Day Slaves--The Truth About Illegal Immigration

Without getting into the finer points of logical argument: The founders did not grant slaves 3/5s voting rights. Slaves could not vote because they were not recognized as citizens. The Three-Fifths Compromise was over taxation and congressional representation. Colonies with less slaves did not want slaves to be taken into account for representation and wanting to tax slave usage while southern colonies did not want to be taxed on their slaves, but wanted them counted toward their representation, hence the Three-Fifths Compromise.
The votes of freed men; however, were only given three-fifths the value of a white vote. Whether or not it was bigotry depends on how you define it. It is a known fact that all of our founding fathers thought whites to be superior to blacks. This was the mainstream view.
Even Abraham Lincoln thought blacks were inferior, albeit horrendously wronged. Racism does not necessarily translate into hatred. It was just the status quo and effects us still today. Today we are more informed by social interactions and most of us know that racial superiority is an outdated notion- yet since the more outspoken racists speak with great hatred, we tend to think that these are the only racists. What may not sound bigoted today, may well seem bigoted in the future when people are generally better educated.
