  1. I try to avoid Wal-Mart whenever possible. But when I do shop there I can expect people to try to rush in front of me as I approach the check-out line. It is part of the Wal-mart experience. It is interesting to me that an African American woman was singled out for something that happens multiple times a day at this marketplace.

it is absurd that one can possibly face prison for the charges stemming from butting in line, if in fact, that is what she actually did.

Just when we start to believe that we are making in-roads in regard to institutional racism, stuff like this happens to remind us that we still have a long, long way to go.

  2. What appalls me most is the lack of understanding. Lack of empathy and sympathy with this young black woman.

Nobody offered to help her in any way, but instead they resorted to insults and aggressivity.

They probably wasted more time trying to humiliate this woman and creating conflict and chaos ( the customers, the employees at Wal Mart and the police ) that trying to help her.

As a result they wasted time, behaviour of fools and racists.
