In contrast in Ashkenaz, dogma and tradition took on its own force even if subsequent theological arguments proved the basis to be incorrect.

But what about the Tourist and Convention Dollars for Arizona ??. Because Corporate and Business Employees will be harassed if not Milk White, and Corporations are going to be losing money when their employees are in jail. Business Corporations will shun Arizona.

Blacks in South Africa were required to carry ID papers at all times. So were Jews in pre-war Germany. Are we going to go that way? As far as I'm concerned, the only papers a person needs to carry are driver's license and insurance if he or she drives a car and an ATM card for quickie withdrawals or purchases. Anything else is superfluous. This law stinks and I hope Brewer has the strength of character to veto it. I also think it's probably in contravention of federal law and it will be struck down.

Comment 2 :
Those who are arrested will have to "prove" they are citizens by carrying their birth certificate or passport with them at all times. Since non-Hispanics won't be required to do that, those who are arrested will be treated differently than other Americans, which will cause the number of lawsuits to skyrocket. Expect some of the arrestees to be beaten or to die in custody.

Needless to say, even though Hispanics might be Arizona's primary concern, those from India, Pakistan, the Arab states, South America, the South Seas ... anyone who is 'different' can expect to be rousted, arrested and generally treated badly as 'unAmerican in appearance'.

On a positve note, as a result of this bill, we will soon see waves of young Hispanic Arizonans out getting the community registered to vote and ultimately those who represent the state will reflect the true ethnic makeup of it. In the meantime, if it is signed into law and not overturned, we will see a lot of civil disobedience and unrest. This bankrupt state will lose much of its convention and tourism business and which multinational high or low tech corporation would consider investing in a state where their employees will be subject to such harrassments? In addition, if older illegals are deported, thousands of whom have grown children born here, do you think these young Americans will idly sit by and allow their parents to be removed? In a kneejerk unconstitutional response to a serious complex issue, , the Republicans of my state have lit a real firecracker. It's just overwhelmingly sad.

As a democrat, I love this. Republican are alienating the fastest growing ethic group in the United Sates. Do they realize that the Hispanic population is growing while the white population is shrinking... Not just in the United States but in Europe also. The Black population is staying the same and the Asian population is growing slightly. And the Muslim population is growing also within the U.S. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. That's why the United States will have major power shifts in the next 25 years. The Republican are making sure that Democrats get generations of Hispanic voting for a long time. Without the Hispanic vote, President Obama could not have won the white house plan and simple. Even with 90% of the black vote, he could not have won without the 67% Hispanic vote. Imagine the impact the Hispanics will have in the near future when their population double... And the Arizona law is just legalized racial profiling. How do a policeman suppose to tell if someone legal or illegal without harrassing them? There will be more legal Hispanic harrassed then illegal...

Sorry guys, but the only way to make this law as not racially profiling is to stop EVERYONE and ask them for proof that they are in this country legally. Stopping people because they LOOK Mexican would be racial profiling. I imagine there is a significant number of people in Arizona that are of Mexican decent and are American citizens, American indians, even greeks and Italians can look like they're of Mexican decent (everyone thinks my mother is Mexican because she has an accent and dark skin). I have a friend who's family is Mexican and she looks European (light skinned and blond). And what is proof? Are all citizens of Arizona required to carry around identification or they will be arrested? What constitutes proof?

This law is stupid and makes no sense. It is poorly written like most of Arizona's laws. If this law is signed lawsuits will be the status quo for local communities in Arizona. It means loss of freedom for ALL legal Arizona citizens

This is also unconstitutional. Read the part that states that we do not have to present "papers" to the Government. This was put into the constitution as a remedy for the fact that the Brits, back in those days, randomly stopped people, asked for papers, etc. I guess next, people will be expected to house the police or the military to help enforce these illegal rules. Oh, that's right, the constitution also prohibits the government from forcing people to house soldiers.

This bill has no business being enacted on American soil. Build a wall, do whatever you have to do. However, random harassment of people by the police only promises to create bigger problems.

Illegals pay taxes like you and I, oh yes they do! They may use someone elses social security number, but they pay in none the less, and don't get anything back for it in the long run.

Having been bron and raised in Southern California I have known lots of illegals in my life and they pay in. Son when you complain about them, realize billions upon billions are going into the system and the most they get are emergency room visits, that's it!

As a resident in a highly hisanic area in Arizona, I can tell you that this bill will do nothing to stop the border crossings and everything to give Sheriff Joe Arpaio a free pass to hassle minorities. I've read about his "sweeps" that he conducts here in town always under some ridiculous false pretense. Reporters that have written news stories about them end up behind bars for a day usually for some trumped up traffic violation. We are in serious trouble with our legislators here in this state. I truly feel this bunch is stomping sour grapes because McCain lost the election.
