I was left alone during a Big Storm with a very old and insignificant looking Latina Lady - It turned out that she and her family are very rich with big mansions in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.


We judge people wrongly by their color, clothes, shoes, broken English, etc ..... :

My wife is a friend of everybody and his aunt, she is extremely friendly and generous, even to dangerous extremes. So she was with her friends and I was left alone with an old lady over 80 with the aspect of being poor, dark, somewhat Indian, or with African blood.

My wife had told me that they were very rich and helped a lot other poor people, but I didn't believe the story until I had to talk to the old dark lady ... Because of the storm, and heavy rains I had to speak with her for hours and make coffee for us, with cookies, while the storm raged.

She told me the story of her family, very hard working guys, and showed me the photos of their mansions and properties. Since I know Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, etc.... she described to me everything with great property and she wasn't the kind of person that is telling lies.

She described her sons, daughters, in laws, etc .... with great accuracy and property. She describe how they have progressed from the most humble origins, without dirty or ugly businesses, by studying in good colleges and going into business after years in the U. S. Army, Air Force, etc ....

This lady had a remarkable knowledge of Air Force Bases, Airplane Models, Military Facilities and customs, etc ... And she told me about her difficulties with the English Language, which she only learned very poorly.

The old Lady was very embarrassed of "bothering" me because of being in my house during the storm. Not a swindler.

So, we may think that immigrants are going to be servants forever, the downtrodden or underdogs, but sometimes they have the potential to live in Big Mansions, close to the Boca Raton Hotel, the Big Golf Links and the Biggest Yachts of the Multimillionaires.

I hope that you have ever been in Boca Raton and know what I am talking about.

Morals of the story : don't judge people by the color, face features, clothing ..... Because you may be the poor guy and the beggar.
