The motion of petitioner for leave to proceed in forma pauperis is granted. The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted limited to the following questions: 1) Does an appellate court have the authority to raise sua sponte a 28 U.S.C. §2244(d) statute of limitations defense? 2) Does the State’s
declaration before the district court that it “will not challenge, but [is] not conceding, the timeliness of Wood’s habeas petition,” amount to a deliberate waiver of any statute of limitations defense the State may have had?

11-139 UNITED STATES V. HOME CONCRETE & SUPPLY, ET AL.
The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted. This is a Tax Case determining the effect of understatement of gross income attributable to overstatement of basis is an omission from gross income triggering the extended six year assessment period.

Day Laborers and the Right to Roadside Job Hunting

Some excerpts :

As entertaining as the dissent is to read, however, the Ninth Circuit got it right on the law. Ordinances like the one in Redondo Beach unconstitutionally restrict people from engaging in free speech in public places. People have a right to stand by the road and offer to work, and people in cars have a right to ask people on the roadside if they want a job. It is core First Amendment expression.

If city officials are concerned about the litter, vandalism and harassment that the dissenters pointed to, they should be sure that they have strong laws against these things, and they should enforce them.

There is, of course, a lot more going on in these battles over day laborers. As the Danbury settlement suggested, race and ethnicity roil below — often barely below — the surface, along with views on immigration policy. Critics of the street-side bans say that if the day laborers lining up for work were U.S.-born whites, the laws either would not exist or would not be enforced. (See what it takes to create a new job.)

Day-laborer lines are a Rorschach test. Some people look at them and see foreigners who are making a mess of tidy neighborhoods and threatening public safety. Other observers see the lines as filled with well-meaning people, many of them fathers and husbands, willing to work hard — often for little pay — to be able to buy food and provide shelter for their families. First Amendment issues aside, which vision people have of the men by the road is likely to explain whether they want the bans to survive or to be struck down.

Leading Phoenix-area pollster slams Pearce

Some excerpts :

Michael O’Neil, president of O’Neil Associates Inc. of Tempe, has started Citizens for a Sane Arizona and a website, saneariz ona.com, accusing Pearce, a Mesa Republican, of numerous acts of malfeasance.

Calling Pearce “a bully with a twisted vision for Arizona that betrays our wonderful history and jeopardizes the future we want for our children,” the website urges Pearce’s defeat in a Nov. 8 recall election.

Ed Phillips, a former broadcaster and state legislator who is serving as Pearce’s spokesman, said that he had seen O’Neil’s website but that “it doesn’t rise to the level of a comment.” Pearce did not return calls seeking comment.

It is rare for an independent pollster to jump so starkly into political battle.

“I did this after a great deal of thought because I’ve maintained a position of absolute neutrality,” O’Neil said. “This case presents such a harm to the state that I basically concluded that it’s time for Mike O’Neil, citizen, to step up.”

He said there could be reprisals against him, but after a long career, he is financially secure, adding, “I decided this case was just too extreme and just too much to ignore. The harm that’s being done to this state, the level of hate and scapegoating just called for stepping up, and damn the consequences.”

O’Neil said the tipping point wasn’t Senate Bill 1070, a tough immigration law that Pearce sponsored last year amid a storm of national controversy. It was Pearce’s effort in the Legislature this year to pass several more immigration bills so onerous that a majority of Republican senators voted against at least one of them, sending all down to defeat.

On her Tea Party Express profile, Cortes wrote: "Our country is being dismantle by corruption in Washington D.C. Politicians are drunken with power and greed"

Right Wing Websites are desperate presenting Olivia Cortes as a Decent Candidate. She is hiding from the lighs and the public. Her website is filled with platitudes that nobody can oppose, like preserving human life and working for harmony.

"Repeated emails sent to the campaign email address on the website were not answered. Cortes-Gate: Tea Party Pearce Scandal Explodes in Arizona Recall Election

Some excerpts :

As Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce replaced three members on the state’s Ethics Committee over an investigation of a fellow colleague’s domestic abuse charges last week, his own campaign in the upcoming recall election spiraled deeper into allegations of fraud and ethic violations.

On the verge of blowing up into an irreparable scandal for Pearce, the self-proclaimed “Tea Party President” and first senate president to face a recall election in American history, a series of blatant efforts by his campaign supporters to fraudulently set up the sham candidacy of Olivia Cortes to undermine his main opponent’s support has unraveled into a damaging comedy of errors.

After the Secretary of State’s office deferred on an investigation into Cortes’ campaign for fraud, long-time Mesa Republican Mary Lou Boettcher and attorney Tom Ryan filed a suit yesterday in the Superior Court of Maricopa County for a “verified statement of election contest.” Boettcher, the co-founder of one of the oldest Mesa Republican women’s clubs in 1962, contends :

.
Olivia Cortes is used to beguile or lead Latinos into a useless vote, they want to lure the votes for Jerry Lewis into a garbage can called "Olivia Cortes", this way Russell Pearce wins this November Election using his big bag of dirty tricks.

Russelll Pearce is the candidate of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and of Bigotry, Fanaticism, and Racial Hatred.

The other candidate Jerry Lewis is a respected and appreciated School Principal, also an accountant by profession and is the CIO of a Construction Company. He is a Moderate Republican, Bishop of the Mormon Church and Member of the Community that constantly works for the Poor and the Homeless.

It is false that Jerry Lewis is for Open Borders and Total Amnesty in Immigration as the Racists and Extremists of Arizona accuse him.

For many years Russell Pearce has been a close pal of the Nazi Leader J. T. Ready. There are many video clips of the two friends together in right wing meetings.

This is J. T. Ready in his own words :

“This is a white, European homeland. That’s how it should be preserved if we want to keep it clean, safe, and pure.”
— Ready speaking at a National Socialist Movement rally in Oct. 24, 2009

“The jew [sic] itself knows it is a parasite. I have had them admit as much to me and laugh in my face… But a parasite cannot carry on in its parasitic nature if it is exposed for what it really is. Their whole house of cards comes tumbling down for all to see. Like in 1933 Germany. Just because it has two legs, does not change its nature any less than a six-legged parasite stops sucking blood. There have been many pogroms when the host people stops being victims of these vampires. Another pogrom is approaching.”
— New Saxon blog posting, May 8, 2010

J. T. Ready uses Swastikas, Hitlerian Totenkopfs and SS sig runes, the symbols carried by the Gestapo, the SS murderous forces of Hitler and the Hitlerian Divisions of Nazis. He also uses Images of Hitler in his parades with other White Supremacist Cretins.

Cortes circulator says campaign is pro-Pearce effort

Some excerpts :

Friday is the deadline for candidates to file their petitions for the election that is scheduled for Nov. 8, pending a state Supreme Court ruling on its legality next week.

Mesa Republican Jerry Lewis filed his petitions several weeks ago, and his backers planned to visit the Secretary of State's office Friday to file more with a view toward ensuring his place on the ballot.

Cortes, a Republican, and Libertarian lawyer Michael Kielsky, another announced candidate, have until 5 p.m. Friday to submit their petitions to replace Pearce as senator from legislative District 18.

On Thursday, a woman who said she was being paid to circulate Cortes' petitions, stopped a Republic reporter leaving the library.

The reporter mentioned rumors that Cortes had entered the race to split the vote.

"Right," the woman said. "Not away from Pearce. To Pearce."

Reporter: "So she's actually hoping that Pearce will win the recall?"

Circulator: "Right."

When the reporter said that seemed like an unusual approach to the election, the circulator simply said, "Politics."

Dilworth Brinton Jr., a longtime Mesa resident and member of the city's library board, said he'd had conversations with people who heard the same thing from the circulator. The circulator's statements jibe with an allegation made publicly for the first time two weeks ago by Randy Parraz, one of the organizers of the petition drive that precipitated the election.

"We know for a fact that this person Olivia Cortes was a supporter of Russell Pearce beforehand and would not sign the recall petition," Parraz said during an Aug. 24 press conference in Mesa.

When The Mesa Republic asked Cortes to respond to that allegation two weeks ago, she did not deny it. Instead she criticized Parraz, a Scottsdale Democrat, as an outsider who had no business involving himself in Mesa politics.

Her e-mailed statement said in its entirety: "I have never met Mr. Parraz and he has never met me, but I would appreciate it if he would stop trying to muscle or scare me out of this race. I live in LD18 and believe I have something to offer the voters. Mr. Parraz does not live in our district and he should stop interfering with our elections."

Cortes has had no further contact with The Republic.

Told about the conversations at library, Parraz said they confirmed his allegations about Cortes.

"She's busted," Parraz said.

Obama's class act

Obama's class act

Some excerpts :

The conventional wisdom has been there were serious limits on the ability of a 21st-century president to use his bully pulpit the way both Roosevelts — Teddy and Franklin D. — and Harry Truman did. After all, this is the age of Fox News, social networking, etc. A president has a harder time breaking through the white noise.

Well, guess what? Presidents still set agendas. When Obama makes a speech — like his remarks Monday in the Rose Garden — it makes waves. Look at conversations on talk shows and around kitchen tables.

Is Obama preaching “class warfare”? Hasn’t there been class warfare all along, with shooting from the top down?

Should the filthy rich — excuse me, the most fortunate among us — be paying lower tax rates than those who attend them?

Should Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security be slashed to spare “job creators” — spare me — from having to pay taxes on outlandish profits? And, by the way, the richest of the rich are those on Wall Street. Last time I looked, they were more responsible for wrecking the rest of the economy than for creating jobs. Job creators, indeed.

The more these issues are smoked out, and argued about, the more lame the Republicans look. It’s a losing politics to defend the very rich when billionaire Warren Buffett is saying they should at least pay the same tax rate as their secretaries.

Obama’s poll-obsessed handlers should watch the numbers move — in his direction — as these issues get hashed out and voters conclude that yes, the rich should pay their fair share, and no, we don’t want to cut Social Security and Medicare to spare gazillionaires a few bucks.

Russell Pearce's Olivia Cortes Scandal: Video

Some excerpts :

This is part one of a video report on the shenanigans taking place at a recent Legislative District 19 GOP meeting in Mesa, which I blogged about yesterday. My colleague, videographer Dennis Gilman, will follow up with a part two, containing even juicier clips.

Can anyone now doubt that Olivia Cortes is a plant by supporters of state Senate President Russell Pearce? The intention, according to Cortes' paid petition gatherers, is to "dilute" the vote, by shaving away support for Mesa educator and former CPA Jerry Lewis. The pro-Pearce crowd hopes this will ensure a Pearce victory in the November 8 recall election.

However, the Cortes scandal continues to widen, delivering a PR nightmare to Pearce's doorstep. How to remedy this? Rumors abound, but one of the most plausible is that at some point, Pearce will ask Cortes to withdraw her candidacy.

This would paint Pearce as an honorable man, while leaving Cortes' name on the ballot, and her notorious "Si se puede" signs up around Mesa. In other words, it would be a cynical gesture on Pearce's part, which is one reason why it seems so plausible.

In asking Cortes to withdraw, Pearce does not have to admit any knowledge of his supporters' shenanigans. And Cortes can continue to hide out in her modest Mesa apartment. The damage has already been done, and cannot be withdrawn.

It is incumbent upon the local press to continue to expose this sham for what it is, especially the local Spanish-language media, which has been slow to respond to Cortes' insulting candidacy. Only recently have some Spanish-language reporters begun to press the issue. They need to do more.

A Call for Fairness
September 19, 2011

A Call for Fairness

Some excerpts :

The president’s plan to cut $3.6 trillion from the deficit over the next 10 years is a well-proportioned mix. It proposes about 60 percent spending cuts (including winding down two wars that his predecessor started fighting off the books with the eager support of the supposedly fiscally responsible Republicans in Congress) and 40 percent tax increases on the wealthy and corporations.

It pays for the desperately needed jobs plan he sent to Congress last week without more mindless hacking at government programs, and would be a much better alternative to the $1.2 trillion in across-the-board spending cuts that loom if Congress does not pass a debt plan this year.

Republicans will, of course, mount obdurate opposition in Congress, since they have no intention of allowing the government to ask anything from the wealthy and corporations. Even before the plan was announced, the party’s leaders had rolled out their rusted artillery, calling an increase in taxes on high earners “class warfare” and insisting that it would fatally wound “job creators.” (In fact, less than 2 percent of the nation’s small businesses would be affected by the tax increases.)
.............

Those are unacceptable choices, he said, particularly if the rich give up nothing, and he made it clear he would veto any plan that cut Medicare but did not raise revenue from the rich. He called for Congress to rewrite the tax code to ensure that the rich pay the same effective tax rate on their income as the middle class. (He referred to Warren Buffett, who famously said on our Op-Ed page that his secretary pays a higher rate than he does.) It’s time Washington fought as hard for the middle class, he said, as lobbyists fight for billionaires and corporations.
.................

That’s the kind of language Mr. Obama needs for the campaign trail next year, to draw a strong comparison with Republicans who may well start to be seen as fighting for the interests of a small moneyed elite.
...............

On the spending side, the president’s plan takes a sensible approach toward saving money in Medicare and Medicaid. More than 90 percent of the $248 billion in Medicare cuts over 10 years would come from reducing payments to drug companies and health care providers that are unnecessarily high. The effect on the elderly would be limited, with higher premiums for high-income beneficiaries starting in 2017, and increased deductibles for new beneficiaries. Mr. Obama proposed a modest cut of $66 billion in Medicaid over a decade, well below the Republicans’ proposed $770 billion cut.

After nearly three years of destructive compromise and concession on the budget, this plan was far too late in coming. But the public is listening now, and has demanded shared sacrifice. The burden is now on Mr. Obama to sell his plan, and on Congress to buy it.

"Bully Pulpit" was a term coined by President Theodore Roosevelt ( 26th President of the United States (1901–1909) ), who referred to the White House as a "bully pulpit," a terrific platform from which to advocate an agenda. Compare "Teddy" and Obama here in this page.

.
Question : "Should Obama use the Bully Pulpit ??"

My answer : There is nothing more political than being President of the USA. Everything that the President does is political, even working in the garden or playing basketball.

Theodore Roosevelt famously used the word bully as an adjective meaning "superb" or "wonderful" (a more common expression in his time than it is today).

In 19 century English and beyond "Bully" had other meanings different to a scoundrel or idiot in a school yard harassing the weak and small Children.

Theodore Roosevelt is noted for his exuberant personality, range of interests and achievements, and his leadership of the Progressive Movement, as well as his "cowboy" persona and robust masculinity. He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the short-lived Progressive ("Bull Moose") Party of 1912.

There are some similiarities between Obama and Teddy, both were progressives and wanted Social Security, Health Care and the defense of Immigrants and the Weak. There are very beautiful speeches of Teddy Roosevelt to defend the underdog and the poor.

But Obama has being accused of being a "sissy" before terrorists and Fox News/Rush Limbaugh have hinted one million times that Obama is a Beturbaned Muslim Terrorist, and an anti-American Kenyan Communist.

Teddy was high society and Obama has been an underdog because of the color of his skin, however Obama is Ivy-League. He is a superb intellectual president and somewhat delicate and non partisan. There is nothing "sissy" or "intellectual" about Teddy.

Bully pulpit - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the turn of phrase.

A bully pulpit is a public office or other position of authority of sufficiently high rank that provides the holder with an opportunity to speak out and be listened to on any matter. The bully pulpit can bring issues to the forefront that were not initially in debate, due to the office's stature and publicity.
.................

Its meaning in this sense is only distantly related to the modern form of "bully", which means "harasser of the weak". The word is related to the Dutch boel, meaning lover, and is also found in the German word Nebenbuhler, meaning a rival for a lady's affection. In English usage around 1700, "bully" came to be similar to "pimp," which gives us the connotation of a ruffian or harasser.

Due to the archaic nature of the adjective "bully" and the religious symbolism of the word pulpit (the elevated platform used by a preacher), this phrase is often misunderstood as a pejorative. This misinterpretation implies intimidation and, possibly, an abuse of authority. An example of this (incorrect usage) would be the sentence: "He uses his job as a bully pulpit, regaling his subordinates with his political opinions as part of their morning meetings."

An example of modern use of the phrase is the headline, about the archbishop of New York, "Archbishop Timothy Dolan rises to the bully pulpit in the midst of a culture war."

In 1980, only 5 percent of black men married a white woman, but that increased to 14 percent in 2008. Still, by comparison, 38 percent of Asian American men and Hispanic men married a white woman in 2008

~Black and White Marriages Increased Rapidly Since 1980s, Study Finds~ - A new study of interracial marriages in the United States since the 1980s suggests that the racial boundary between blacks and whites continues to break down.

Marriage Outside of Racial Boundaries Increases, finds study; Immigration affects U.S. marriage

Some excerpts :

“It used to be that race trumped everything, including education, when it came to marriage between blacks and whites; that is changing. For the first time, we found that highly educated blacks and whites were more likely to intermarry. That is very significant and is another sign that racial boundaries are blurring.” ~Zhenchao Qian, professor of sociology at Ohio State University
............

The study, published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, says that marriages between blacks and whites have continued to increase. Meanwhile, Latin and Hispanic Americans have started marrying their racial compatriots from among newly arrived immigrants.

According to Qian, understanding changes in interracial marriages is complex because it involves two different factors. It considers first: “the marriage market of who is available to marry," said Qian. But it also involves individuals’ choices about who they would be willing to marry.

There was only a slight increase in marriages between whites and Hispanics. However, marriages between U.S. born and foreign born Asians and Hispanics increased rapidly between 2000 and 2008. This is due to the increase in immigration of Hispanics and Asians into the United States resulting in a larger pool of potential marriage partners from their own racial and ethnic groups.

SB 1070 Boycott Over? NCLR Says, "Yes," Sal Reza Says, "Hell, No!"

Some excerpts :

Friday evening, I received the letter below signed by Janet Murguria of the National Council of La Raza, essentially declaring that the boycott of Arizona over Senate Bill 1070 is finito.

Granted, the letter does point out that the boycott that developed in response to state Senate President Russell Pearce's nativist legislation, most of which has been enjoined by the federal court, has had a potent effect.

But, the NCLR, along with a couple of other groups, concludes that it's time for the economic sanctions to end.
...........

Responding to the letter's release, Sal Reza, leader of the Phoenix-based human rights group Puente, noted that the boycott of Arizona has always been a spontaneous thing. No one group started it, and no one group can end it.

"The boycott was done by the people themselves, when they began avoiding Arizona," said Reza ."The only ones that can call off the boycott are the people themselves."

He scoffed at the letter, vowing that the economic pressure on Arizona would continue from the ground up.

"We don't recognize their authority, period," Reza said of the NCLR. "They have no authority over us."

Additionally, he blasted the letter as a cowardly "corporate move," one motivated by money.

Likewise, Javier Gonzalez, spokesman for the Sound Strike, the musicians' boycott of the Grand Canyon State, was dismissive of the announcement.

"It's a little bit arrogant," he told me. "We take our lead from more grass-roots organizations. We don't take our cue from the NCLR."

Driving While Dreadlocked: Why Police Are So Bad At Racial Profiling

Driving While Dreadlocked: Why Police Are So Bad At Racial Profiling

Some excerpts :

Williams directly addressed this point in his press conference. He noted that his treatment was due to his being, certainly, young and black, but also to his wearing dreadlocks and an earring. That is, the cops read Williams as “street,” despite that he is a municipal lawmaker, not to mention college graduate with a Master’s Degree. That impression was likely furthered by Williams’ speech patterns. Williams hardly talks like an unlettered “thug” and is thoroughly effective in communicating with an audience. However, in his public speech his vowels, cadence, and tendency to substitute “-in” for “-ing” are, in combination, very much those of a black working-class New Yorker.

I should be clear that Williams is not to be faulted for any of this. There was a time when those aspiring to public roles took elocution lessons or just subconsciously developed a “tony” style of speaking in public. This was as true of blacks as whites: Booker T. Washington, born in slavery, sounds quite “white” in recordings, as do old-time prominent blacks such as A. Philip Randolph, James Weldon Johnson and W.E.B. DuBois, and in their era no one considered that unusual. But those days—when a New York City councilman of any race may have been expected to have been a bespectacled sort with a walking stick addressing people as “My good man”—are long gone. Williams, who grew up in the eighties and nineties, certainly is not of that era. He came of age in a much more demotic culture, one that has abandoned traditional hierarchies and placed the “authentic” on a pedestal instead.

As such, Jumaane Williams, like many other successful black people of our day, looks, sounds, and carries himself less like his societal equivalents of old days and more like their less-accomplished peers; nor does he (nor should he have to) particularly aspire to anything different.

What this means, however, is that cops who are attuned to thinking of all black men with that sense of demeanor, diction, and style as potential thugs are now grievously misreading the populace they serve. Cops accused of profiling commonly object that they look not just for black skin but for a “certain kind” of black person reasonably suspected of malfeasance of some kind. However much sense that justification once may have made, it doesn’t hold water in our current culture.

After all, how do police propose to define “a certain kind” of black man? If it’s by a certain black vernacular speech pattern (ie: “Hode on” for “Hold on”; “Ah see” for “I see”), dreadlocks, and a certain way of walking, then the profile is essentially useless, as in 2011 it takes in men of an unprecedentedly wide range of classes, educational level and temperaments. Cops now have to be primed, in other words, for the possibility that this “certain kind” of black man may be a City Councilman.

Fortunately, there is some good that may come of this incident. Williams and Foy have been using it to highlight the general issue of how New York City cops treat young black and Latino men, an issue that deserves far more attention. If young brown-skinned people today often harbor a hatred of whites that would seem to have made more sense fifty years ago than today, that’s largely because of their relationship with the police. For many inner-city kids, in particular, encounters with snarling cops like the ones who pushed Williams and Foy into the dirt are the main interactions with whites they ever have.

And when a generation of black and brown kids grows up thinking of the cops as a band of surly and sometimes violent white guys, it’s lost in many ways. One need not wonder why bands of black boys form “flash mobs” with the express intent of harassing white people. Nor can it be a surprise that so many inner-city brown kids have trouble responding to or trusting a white teacher, as reported in sadly ordinary accounts. The fraught relationship between black men and police forces is, in fact, the main enabler of the impression among so many blacks—as attested to by everything from Gates’ notorious “Why? Because I’m a black man in America?” riposte to Crowley’s arresting him, to the irrepressible popularity of the gangsta rap genre—that racism is a dominant factor in their lives.

Racism, alas, is too vague and inchoate a charge to serve as a proper diagnosis of blacks’ problems with police. The cops who harassed Councilman Williams may not have had a lack of personal or racial empathy, but rather a deficiency of aptitude of black culture. In any case, the problems are not of the sort that a “beer summit” can be expected to solve.

Many Latinos moved during June and July from Georgia to other states, mainly to Florida, this was due to an anti-Immigration Law. How Latinos move inside the United States. They are already accustomed to being Gypsy-like

.
Many agricultural businesses in Georgia lost millions because of rotten crops and scarcity of labor, while Florida and other neighboring states had a bonus with the pickers of fruit and vegetables that had to flee from Georgia, because of the persecution and hatred.

This is similar to many vacant apartments and houses in Arizona, occasioned by a flight from hatred and racism. This helps to worsen the Real Estate Crisis in Arizona, and the collapse of many service businesses like supermarkets, bars, restaurants, theaters, gas stations, entertaining, etc ... Not to mention tourism, hotels and conventions for people that are not milk white and that can be applied the very legal and constitutional "Racial Profiling" like in the Supreme Court Decision :

U. S. Supreme Court : Patrolling officers may stop vehicles if the the occupants appear to be of Mexican ancestry and the location is close to the border and its functional equivalents - UNITED STATES v. BRIGNONI-PONCE 1975 - CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE NINTH CIRCUIT

Racial Profiling is perfectly legal, constitutional and supports SB 1070. Used for "War on Drugs", Terrorism, etc ....

So the displacement of these dangerous terrorists, drug dealers or "undocumented labor" happens because of this two main causes :

1) Availability of jobs picking fruits or vegetables, processing meats, poultry, landscaping, building, construction, hotels, restaurants, etc ...

2) Repelled by anti-immigrant laws, so Arizona, Georgia and Alabama have lost thousands of these migrants.

They flock to states that need labor in the mentioned areas or in Service like hotels, restaurants, etc.... . They boost sales in supermarkets and help the economy of those new places. They also demand more services like cell phones, hair cutting, washing laundry, electricity, water, fixed phones, entertainment, gasoline, gas, rentals, combustibles, etc ...

Health Care should not be a significant motivation. They are in better health than the median White American, Why ?? ... because they are much younger and they self-selected for migration in the country of origin before entering the USA. Those that had poor health were left behind.
This is documented in many health studies of immigrants and also happens in Europe with other guys from Africa or the Middle East.

Those "illegals aliens" that came to America are very motivated to work in the known activities.

And people do not think of Health Care until they are gravely sick !-.

On the other hand availability of education for Children and Adults should be a better magnet to attract "illegal aliens" than Health Care.

Of course if you are a Great Republican Demagogue and candidate ( and there are more than a few ) then this is read meat to throw to the sharks and alligators for a feeding frenzy.

They tell you constantly this enticing mantra :

"Your Health Care is expensive due to the "Extragalactic Aliens" -- Prepare for the "War of the Worlds" against those repellent ugly monsters !...."

Free Trade Agreement of United States and Colombia : Why this has a lot to do with Super Biodiversity, Exotic Plants, Fruits, Vegetables, Insects, Animals - The Vicepresident of Colombia asks for more protection of Human Rights and Environments.

.
The vicepresident Angelino Garzon asks for protection of workers and the environment. He sees a lot of danger in the announced forecast of accelerated economic development for Colombia.

According to ECLAC, Colombia rebounded from 0.8% GDP growth in 2009 to 4.0% in 2010, and could reach 6.5% in 2011.

The vicepresident of Colombia is a serious responsible man and should be heard.

The president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos is likable and has performed well.

Colombia has to export commodities now but it would be nice if the country could add better things in the future.

Colombia has the ideal "Thermal Floors", "Microclimates", abundance of different Tropical Thermal Levels and altitudes for growing many exotic vegetables, exotic fruits, exotic flowers and ornamental foliages for flower vases, decorations, etc....

Add exotic coffee, tea and wines ( for the Future !, this according to scientists !)

All the things mentioned depend on what God gave to Colombia : extreme super availability of water, that is plenty of rains in general, and great protection against winds and storms due to three big mountain ranges. There is also lots of sunshine during the whole year.

The country also has some deserts, and part of the Amazonian Basin and the Orinoco River Basin.

The Vicepresident Angelino Garzon is a Great Defender of Civil Rights and the President Juan Manuel Santos is very connected to American Bankers and Powerful Men in Washington.

Colombia being such and "exotic" and "biodiverse" country needs "the social, labor and environmental “good practices” that corporations follow in their home countries"

I sincerely believe that both countries : USA and Colombia will profit from a balanced and well thought trade agreement.

“Demand answers to why no one has been indicted,” he wrote. “Mr. President, people are livid. Tell people that you, too, are angry and sickened by the irresponsible actions on Wall Street that caused so much suffering. Do not accept excuses. Demand action now.”

Obama must also “make a case like a Democrat” and fight the “Republican austerity garbage,” Carville noted. And when making the case, the president must stick to his story, Carville wrote.

If Obama cannot course correct, the country could soon have a “crazy person” in the White House, Carville said.

Guillermo spent 2 years at a private CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) detention facility - the corporation neglected to report his medical condition.

CCA profited close to $90,000 off of Gomez' incarceration, and ensured greater profit by failing to disclose his mental disability effectively leaving Guillermo trapped for 2 years. In 2010 CCA CEO Damon T. Hininger received $3,266,387 in total compensations.?????It's time to put an end to the private prison racket. Why the Perry-Romney Slugfest Plays Right Into Obama’s Hands

Some excerpts :

Naturally enough, now that Mitt Romney is attacking Perry’s all-too-specific domestic policy radicalism, it can be argued that a Romney victory over Perry might help insulate the GOP from accusations of radicalism in the general election. But Romney’s own credibility issues with the conservative activists who will largely determine his fate in the early caucuses and primaries will inevitably require him to package his criticisms of Perry with his own dangerously specific ideas for “entitlement reform.” This competition will simply draw more attention to the whole subject of the two parties’ very different governing philosophies—a partisan differentiation that Obama’s jobs speech last week sought to promote after many months of relentless bipartisan rhetoric from the White House.

So long as the president does not pull the trigger on a deficit reduction deal with congressional Republicans on Social Security and Medicare that could blur these differences, the Romney-Perry battle could crucially change the nature of the general election. And the invisible primary’s focus on Social Security and Medicare is likely to become even more intense tonight, as the Republican candidates hold another debate in senior-rich Florida. Every moment they spend sparring over the New Deal and Great Society is a boon to Barack Obama. Even if the incumbent cannot win a referendum on his own presidency, he can win a competition between the ghost of Barry Goldwater and the ghosts of FDR and LBJ.

Mutiny on the Bounty : Sexual Abuse in Pitcairn Island in our days. - The Same Sexual Abuse and Racial Brutality as the Original People in the HMS Bounty Ship - The movies (Marlon Brando) do not show the brutal Violence, Sex and Racism

.
And it seems that the Marlon Brando family caught the contagion of Pitcairn Violence :

Christian Brando ( 1958 – 2008 ) was the eldest child of actor Marlon Brando. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of the boyfriend of his half-sister Cheyenne. On May 16, 1990, Christian Brando had shot Dag Drollet to death at Marlon Brando's residence on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles. He was released from prison in 1996. In 2005, he pleaded no contest to spousal abuse of his wife, Deborah Presley, and was given probation. He died of pneumonia on January 26, 2008.

This Christian became so violent as Marlon Brando's Character in the movie : Fletcher Christian (1764 – 1793) was a master's mate on board the HMS Bounty during William Bligh's fateful voyage to Tahiti for breadfruit plants (see Mutiny on the Bounty). It was Christian who seized command of the Bounty from Bligh on 28 April 1789.

Many years ago I read a Historic Book about the Mutiny in the British HMS Bounty Ship ( HMS is His Majesty Ship I guess ).

It was a very sad Story at the end of the Book because it seems that this original people from the bounty degenerated into violence and murder in the famous Pitcairn Island. I became depressed thinking that all people are brutal chimps killing each other for sex, clans, tribes and racism.

Sexual Abuse in Pitcairn in our days.

Paradise Lost

In recent years, however, a sexual abuse scandal has cast a deep shadow over the island. Accounts of the victimization of women and young girls on Pitcairn began surfacing in 1999. Seven men–more than half the adult male population of the island–were charged with 96 counts of abuse, including rape and sexual assault. Some of the charges dated back four decades. Subject to British law, the accused faced trial in October 2004 on Pitcairn. Three judges, a number of lawyers, and legal staff members made the 3,000-mile journey to Pitcairn from New Zealand. Eight women, all former Pitcairn Islanders, testified by video link from Auckland, New Zealand.

On Oct. 29, 2004, four men were convicted of multiple sex offenses and received jail sentences of up to six years; two others were sentenced to community service. Jay Warren, the island's magistrate, was found innocent. The appeals of all four men were dismissed, and they are currently being jailed on Pitcairn and guarded by a prison staff from New Zealand.

The rise of politicized religious fundamentalism is the key ingredient of the takeover of the GOP - If you are wealthy, it is a sign of God's favor. That is why many poor whites defend the prerogatives of billionaires. By a Republican fed up with Tea Party !

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult

Some excerpts :

3. Give me that old time religion. Pandering to fundamentalism is a full-time vocation in the GOP. Beginning in the 1970s, religious cranks ceased simply to be a minor public nuisance in this country and grew into the major element of the Republican rank and file. Pat Robertson's strong showing in the 1988 Iowa Caucus signaled the gradual merger of politics and religion in the party. The results are all around us: if the American people poll more like Iranians or Nigerians than Europeans or Canadians on questions of evolution versus creationism, scriptural inerrancy, the existence of angels and demons, and so forth, that result is due to the rise of the religious right, its insertion into the public sphere by the Republican Party and the consequent normalizing of formerly reactionary or quaint beliefs. Also around us is a prevailing anti-intellectualism and hostility to science; it is this group that defines "low-information voter" - or, perhaps, "misinformation voter."

The Constitution to the contrary notwithstanding, there is now a de facto religious test for the presidency: major candidates are encouraged (or coerced) to "share their feelings" about their "faith" in a revelatory speech; or, some televangelist like Rick Warren dragoons the candidates (as he did with Obama and McCain in 2008) to debate the finer points of Christology, with Warren himself, of course, as the arbiter. Politicized religion is also the sheet anchor of the culture wars. But how did the whole toxic stew of GOP beliefs - economic royalism, militarism and culture wars cum fundamentalism - come completely to displace an erstwhile civilized Eisenhower Republicanism?

It is my view that the rise of politicized religious fundamentalism (which is a subset of the decline of rational problem solving in America) may have been the key ingredient of the takeover of the Republican Party. For politicized religion provides a substrate of beliefs that rationalizes - at least in the minds of followers - all three of the GOP's main tenets.

Televangelists have long espoused the health-and-wealth/name-it-and-claim it gospel. If you are wealthy, it is a sign of God's favor. If not, too bad! But don't forget to tithe in any case. This rationale may explain why some economically downscale whites defend the prerogatives of billionaires.

The GOP's fascination with war is also connected with the fundamentalist mindset. The Old Testament abounds in tales of slaughter - God ordering the killing of the Midianite male infants and enslavement of the balance of the population, the divinely-inspired genocide of the Canaanites, the slaying of various miscreants with the jawbone of an ass - and since American religious fundamentalist seem to prefer the Old Testament to the New (particularly that portion of the New Testament known as the Sermon on the Mount), it is but a short step to approving war as a divinely inspired mission. This sort of thinking has led, inexorably, to such phenomena as Jerry Falwell once writing that God is Pro-War.

It is the apocalyptic frame of reference of fundamentalists, their belief in an imminent Armageddon, that psychologically conditions them to steer this country into conflict, not only on foreign fields (some evangelicals thought Saddam was the Antichrist and therefore a suitable target for cruise missiles), but also in the realm of domestic political controversy. It is hardly surprising that the most adamant proponent of the view that there was no debt ceiling problem was Michele Bachmann, the darling of the fundamentalist right. What does it matter, anyway, if the country defaults? - we shall presently abide in the bosom of the Lord.
