You will be surprised that a lot of people buy Smithers Merchandise. That concatenates with the fact that a lot of republicans adore Mitt Romney for being a Brutal Bully, because they see power in the Brutality of a Bully. They love Mitt Romney dressed as a "Fake Cop" and forcibly cutting the hair of sissies, weaklings and gays. They are subimissive subjects that want to be dominated and enslaved.

I do not have any doubt that Mr Burns the despicable capitalist in "The Simpsons" is a Republican. He despises all his employees and all people that are not at his level of Wealth. He has a total lack of Empathy, Sympathy, Compassion, Charity, Piety for Human Beings. He only thinks of increasing his wealth, even if it means the suffering of the rest of mankind.

Mr Burns thinks that he deserves everything and his employees deserve nothing. The poor are just an annoyance, lazy bums that should be left to die of hunger or disease. Mr Burns is the perfect Republican of the 1%.

Mr Burns thinks much the same as Mitt Romney. But Mr Burns does not have to lie every day like Mitt Romney and he expresses very clearly how he despises and humiliates others. Mitt has to hide everyday his inner bully, but his subconscious constantly commits treachery and the selfish narcissist is revealed.

The free dictionary defines a sycophant as

A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.

A person who tries to please someone in order to gain a personal advantage

Ass-kisser, crawler, toady, lackey

Smithers is an obedient and sycophantic assistant to Mr. Burns. He can only vote for the Party of Mr Burns.

Waylon Smithers is Burns' devoted executive assistant. His father, Waylon Smithers, Sr., worked for Burns until he died of radiation poisoning after saving Springfield from a potential nuclear meltdown when Waylon was a baby.

He has "rewarded" Smithers' devotion with the future "honor" of being buried alive with him after he dies. Smithers has been shown to be somewhat dependent on his relationship with Burns. In "Homer the Smithers", Burns orders Smithers to take a vacation and Homer Simpson is hired as a temporary replacement. When Homer loses his temper and punches Burns in the face, Mr. Burns learns to become self-reliant and this results in Smithers being fired. Smithers decides that he needs to be Burns' assistant and eventually gets his job back.

Smithers' official job at the power plant appears to be that of executive assistant, which he says is "actually about 2,800 smaller jobs" responsible for monitoring employee attendance, and is often a disciplinarian and has won dozens of employee of the month awards. He has often hinted at wanting to be promoted to the position of executive vice president, but Burns has repeatedly squashed this dream, while whimsically bestowing the vice presidency on a dog.
