It's halftime in America, too. People are out of work and they're hurting. And they're all wondering what they're going to do to make a comeback. And we're all scared, because this isn't a game.

The people of Detroit know a little something about this. They almost lost everything. But we all pulled together, now Motor City is fighting again.

I've seen a lot of tough eras, a lot of downturns in my life. And, times when we didn't understand each other. It seems like we've lost our heart at times. When the fog of division, discord, and blame made it hard to see what lies ahead.

But after those trials, we all rallied around what was right, and acted as one. Because that's what we do. We find a way through tough times, and if we can't find a way, then we'll make one.

Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention in Florida after they allegedly threw nuts at a black camera operator and subjected him to racist abuse.

Several people witnesses the exchange at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Tuesday, before security and police removed the two people from the building.

The two threw nuts at the CNN worker and said: "This is how we feed animals."

A statement fromt he RNC said: "Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behaviour. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable.

"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated."

CNN also issued a statement which said: "CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon.

"CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment."

The convention began its first session on Tuesday after then Tropical Storm Isaac delayed it from starting on Monday.

Mitt Romney is expected to accept the party's nomination as presidential candidate on Thursday.

On Monday's Morning Joe, MSNBC host Chris Matthews and RNC chair Reince Priebus entered into an incredibly tense argument that kicked off with Matthews disagreeing with Priebus' comments about the Democrats running a more negative campaign that Republicans, pointing in particular to Mitt Romney's recent joke referencing birther concerns over Barack Obama's birth certificate.   

"It is an embarrassment to your party to play that card," said Matthews, accusing Republicans of playing the race card with both that comment and claims that Obama had made changes to welfare work requirements.

Mika Brzezinski chalked up Romney's comment to him being an "awkward joker," while Priebus waved it off as a "dumb issue" and a "distraction."

"I'm not going to get into a shouting match with Chris, so," said Priebus, later calling his accusations "garbage."

Edit: I had initially misheard Matthews' response to the chairman's comment as "You're garbage." In fact, Matthews replied "it's your garbage." Apologies for the mistake, and thanks to those who pointed it out.

If Romney did not commit tax fraud back in 2008 and earlier, and did not avail himself of the IRS's 2009 tax amnesty program, he should have to prove it by releasing his 2007, 2008 and 2009 taxes, and, if the 2007 and 2008 filings turn out to have been belatedly corrected, he should have to show the original filings too.

No doubt the Obama campaign has figured all this out, which would explain why they are offering Mitt Romney a deal that says: "You release five years of your taxes, and we'll shut up" about demanding even older ones.

It remains to be seen whether conservative and right-wing and libertarian Americans, famous for their loathing of taxes, will decide that Romney is simply doing what they'd all like to get away with doing, and give him a pass on all this tax dodging, or whether they will become so incensed at the idea of this richest of presidential candidates in history cheating on his taxes that they will demand that he prove he didn't do it before he can have their vote.

Meanwhile, if Romney did commit tax fraud courtesy of a Swiss bank arrangement, and he stonewalls it through the campaign weeks ahead, he runs a huge risk that someone will leak the information. After all, federal employees have to realize that four years of a Romney/Ryan administration will be brutal on their job security, benefits and working conditions. And right now Obama is the boss of the federal government, with his own appointees at Treasury and the IRS.

The second technique is "not legal," according to Victor Fleischer, a tax expert and professor of law at the University of Colorado. A taxpayer saves substantial amounts of money by pretending that regular income received as a management fee for running a private equity firm is not income, but is instead a capital gain. That drops the tax rate on that income from 35 percent to 15 percent.

Citing the Gawker documents, Fleischer notes that Bain engaged in the management-fee maneuver to reduce the tax bill of its investors. "Unlike carried interest, which is unseemly but perfectly legal, Bain’s management fee conversions are not legal. If challenged in court, Bain would lose. The Bain partners, in my opinion, misreported their income if they reported these converted fees as capital gain instead of ordinary income," he writes.

Shaviro, meanwhile, notes that Bain employed a version of the total return equity swap and says that taxpayers who engage in the practice have little legal justification for doing so. "The only leg that taxpayers had to stand on in some of these cases was common practice and the apparent lack of IRS enforcement (not a very strong leg if the correct application of the law was clear)," he writes. "How far out on the limb were Bain-affiliated foreign entities that were making money through total return equity swaps, and claiming not to owe U.S. withholding tax? And what should we make of this, for purposes of the presidential campaign, if what they were doing, while legally dubious, was common practice?"

But if Bain used improper tax-avoidance techniques, the Romneys would be required to amend their returns regardless of the blind nature of the investments.

Fleischer says he doesn't think the tactic would hold up in court. "Because the deals vary in their aggressiveness, there is some disagreement among practitioners about when it works and when it doesn’t," he writes. "But in my opinion, and the opinion of many tax practitioners, the practices that were common in the private equity industry in the 2000s became very, very questionable, and it’s unlikely that they would have stood up in court."

A Texas county judge is using the threat of a possible civil war if President Barack Obama is re-elected to argue for a tax increase to hire more sheriff's deputies.

Lubbock County Judge Tom Head claimed that Obama will try to "hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN" if he wins the November election.

Head, who as a county administrator oversees emergency management, said that if that happens the citizens of Texas will not stand for it.

"I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy," Head said in an interview with the local Fox News affiliate Tuesday.

"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in UN troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.

"And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you.' Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me."

A fund partially owned by Mitt Romney lent GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson's company $3 million, according to hundreds of pages of previously confidential documents obtained by Gawker and published today.

Romney and his wife have millions of dollars invested in a blind trust which owns dozens of opaque funds and investment vehicles, including one called Sankaty High Yield Partners II LP. The content of the fund and others like it were a mystery before the documents came to light. While there will undoubtably be more discoveries to come from the cache, one immediate revelation is that Sankaty fund, based in Delaware for tax purposes, lent over $3 million to Las Vegas Sands, the casino company owned by Adelson. The fund made two loans of $2.4 million and $600,000 in 2009 to the Sands. Romney's IRA held between $250,000 and $500,000 in the partnership, and made $50,000 and $100,000 from it in 20011.

Adelson has become the largest donor to the Republican Party and conservative outside groups, dropping at least $70 million. Adelson initially supported Newt Gingrich in the GOP primary, but switched his allegiance to Romney and since given $10 million to the main super PAC backing the presumed GOP nominee.

“I do not support amnesty for the millions of illegal immigrants already living in the United States,’’ Ryan says on his Congressional website. He does not elaborate on what he would do about them, which suggests he may support Romney’s formula of “self-deportation,” a proposal that Latino leaders say amounts to making the life of undocumented residents so miserable that they would leave voluntarily.

Fourth, Ryan has opposed the DREAM Act, a bill overwhelmingly supported by Hispanics — and many non-Latinos, too — that calls for giving a path to residency to up to 1.7 million young undocumented students who were brought to the United States as infants and raised in this country.

Many of them don’t even speak the language of their native countries. While most of them were recently granted de facto temporary residency by Obama, their legal status remains in limbo in the long run.

Fifth, Ryan voted in 2005 in support of the Sensenbrenner bill, sponsored by fellow Wisconsin Republican Rep. James Sensenbrenner. Critics described the bill as the most draconian anti-immigration proposal ever. It passed the House, but died in the Senate.

President Barack Obama unveiled a brand new attack on Mitt Romney's taxes here in New Hampshire today, charging that Romney will only pay 1 percent under vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's budget plan.

Here's the key part of his speech to the enthusiastic crowd in Windham High School:

"The centerpiece of my opponent's entire economic plan is a new, $5 trillion tax cut, a lot of it going to the wealthiest Americans. And his new running mate, Congressman Ryan, put forward a plan that would let Governor Romney pay less than 1% in taxes each year. Here's the kicker: he expects you to pick up the tab. Governor Romney's tax plan would actually raise taxes on middle-class families with children by an average of $2,000. Not to reduce the deficit, or grow jobs, or invest in education ­but to give another tax cut to people like him.

"Ask Governor Romney and his running mate when they're here in New Hampshire on Monday if they think that's fair. Ask them how it'll grow the economy, or strengthen the middle-class. They have tried to sell us this trickle-down fairy dust before. It didn't work then and it won't work now. It's not a plan to create jobs. It's not a plan to cut the deficit. And it's not a plan to move our economy forward."

The bolded lines drew a sharp rebuke from the crowd, which seemed somewhat stunned at Obama providing them with the information.

The charge comes from Ryan's description of his budget plan, which proposes to eliminate taxes on interest, capital gains, and dividends — most of Romney's sources of income.

Two separate analyses from Roll Call and The Atlantic found that Romney's tax rate would have been cut to about 1 percent in 2010, the only full-year return Romney has made public.

The Romney's finances involve the murky world of offshore finance, the use of loopholes that allow the very wealthy to skirt tax laws, and with $30 million in Bain Capital funds in the Cayman Islands alone, it looks pretty strange to Americans who expect more transparency from a presidential candidate.

Mitt Romney says that his big fortune makes him extremely superior and more intelligent than Obama to manage the USA as a Business that creates many jobs. But how can we know that he has been a honest and useful Businessman without Tax Returns of many years ??

His Business Success and Big Fortune make Mitt Romney a Super Genius before a President that he considers a harmful fool for America.

So we have to judge Mitt Romney as a Businessman. And we already know that Mitt Romney is a pathological liar and that every report that is not given to the U. S. Government is unreliable.

So we need those documents that go to the IRS Internal Revenue Service and SEC Securities and Exchange Commission, because lying and telling fairy tales in those documents is very dangerous for Romney.

We can see if everything that Mitt owns and earns is included in such documents for the Government.

For many people the negative stance of Mitt Romney is a self-accusation and self-indictment that Mitt Romney has lied to the Government or that he is hiding something very shameful and embarrassing in Business Circles.

We already know that Mitt Romney was the architect of a Big Tax Scam in Marriott Hotels, he was a member of the Board of Directors and president of the Auditing Board at Marriott. Mitt used his strong knowledge of Tax Havens, Tax Heavens, and Fiscal Paradises in the Caribbean to create false expenses and losses and avoid paying taxes for the Hotel Chain.

Marriott was condemned to pay a big fine of hundreds of millions and was found guilty, of course.

That is the Romney Way of Romney Hood.

Deception, Deceit, Scams, Evasions, Elusions, Dodging Taxes, etc ....

For many people Mitt Romney is suspect of non-sanctum Wheelings and Dealings with Bad Guys in such Caribbean Island Paradises. They are frequented by Mafia Guys, Dictators hiding what they steal, Illegal Arms  Dealers, Drugs, Prostitution, Illegal Gambling, Human Traffic, etc....

Paul Ryan, another Racist Bigot has been a distraction, so that we forget Mitt's Tax Returns !

Finally Paul Ryan solves the problem of contradictors and contradiction by calling the police to escort them out of the town hall. He kicks people out.

 Chicago was planning to hang the Ryan budget around Romney’s neck regardless of whether the congressman was on the ticket or not. Obama’s data jockeys have been polling and focus-grouping on this for months, and they are over the moon about what they have found. And while that data is guarded by lock, key, and Uzi-toting thugs (kidding — sorta), anyone interested in the topic should take a look at the work that Stan Greenberg and his team at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner did recently on the Ryan agenda and its electoral implications for Democracy Corps. To put it mildly, their conclusion is fairly bracing:

    At the outset, the Ryan budget (described in Ryan’s actual language) barely garners majority support. And voters raise serious doubts when they hear about proposed cuts — particularly to Medicare, education, and children of the working poor. President Obama’s lead against Romney more than doubles when the election is framed as a choice between the two candidates’ positions on the Ryan budget — particularly its impact on the most vulnerable. The President makes significant gains among key groups, including independents and voters in the Rising American Electorate (the unmarried women, youth, and minority voters who drove Obama to victory in 2008).
